This morning around 4:48 a.m., a fire broke out on the ship Vošćica, which was moored in the port of Bajnice, in the area between Split and Omiš. The fire was quickly brought under control thanks to the rapid intervention of firefighters from Podstrana and Dugi Rat.

Two vehicles and four firefighters from the Podstrana Fire Department and seven vehicles and 20 firefighters from the Dugi Rat Fire Department intervened on the scene. Despite the severity of the fire, fortunately no one was injured. At the time the fire broke out, there were no other ships in the vicinity, which prevented the possibility of the fire spreading and major material damage.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and an investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances surrounding the fire.

The ship suffered extensive material damage. This is a tourist ship that already has contracted arrangements and whose season has already begun. S obzirom na značaj brodara u hrvatskoj turističkoj ponudi, u tijeku su inicijative za pomoć vlasniku broda.

Namely, the Croatian Association of Private Shipowners has launched a humanitarian campaign to raise funds to help its member whose ship was damaged in a fire. The funds raised will be directed towards rehabilitation and repair to enable the resumption of operations as soon as possible. The tourist season has already begun and the goal is to avoid cancellations of contracted arrangements. Donations are collected through the Association’s account, and a transparent report on the amount collected will be published later.
