HUPB supported the ‘Hug’ Association and the Split Maritime Faculty with significant donations
The Croatian Association of Private Shipowners (HUPB) has shown understanding for the needs and importance of the work done by institutions that care for children with special needs as well as education, and directed donations this year towards the “Hug” Association from Dugi Rat and the Maritime Faculty in Split.
The “Hug” Association ,which has been operating in the Municipality of Dugi Rat and the surrounding towns of the City of Omiš since 2020, provides support to children and young people with developmental difficulties as well as people with disabilities, offering them educational work, creative workshops and physical therapy. The donation will provide Christmas gifts that will cheer-up 18 users of the Association, whose number keeps continuously growing. HUPB President Arsen Ercegović emphasized that the Association’s desire is to brighten up the holidays in a special way for those who need it the most.
The funds intended for the Faculty of Maritime Affairs in Split will be directed to the purchase of a van, which is essential for the realization of field classes and additional activities. This van will provide students of Maritime Management, Marine Engineering, Nautical, Maritime Electrotechnical and Information Technology as well as Yacht and Marina Technology with practical experience through visits to teaching bases and conducting exercises in the field. In addition, the vehicle will enable the Faculty to organize the logistics of international conferences more efficiently, such as IMSC 2025, IMLA 2025 and IAMU – AGA 2026, hosted by the Maritime Faculty.
This donation will not only improve study conditions and the organization of scientific meetings, but also further affirm the Faculty as a leading educational and research institution in the region. HUPB’s initiative contributes to strengthening the educational infrastructure and creating better opportunities for future generations of maritime experts.
