This month’s HRejting brings the results of a survey of what citizens think about the current course of the tourist season, which is approaching its peak.
How would you assess the course of the tourist season so far?
About 38% of those surveyed believe that the season has been, so far, mostly or extremely successful. About 34% of those surveyed believe that it has been moderately successful. Slightly less than 19% believe that the season has been mostly or extremely unsuccessful. About ten percent do not know or cannot assess the course of the tourist season.

What are the prices for accommodation, catering and other services?
The largest number of respondents, more than 63%, believe that the prices are not acceptable for either tourists or locals. Around 28% are of the opinion that the prices are acceptable only for our guests. Only around 6% of respondents believe that they are acceptable for both locals and tourists.
Different prices on the coast and the continent
The next question related to the practice recorded in Croatia according to which the prices of the same products in the same retail chains are different on the coast and in the interior of the country.
The majority of respondents – almost 75% – said that this is an unfair trade practice that the government should sanction. We live in a market economy, so it is understandable that in the summer, when demand is higher, things get more expensive along the coast – 15% believe. Around 6% are of the opinion that traders have to raise prices on the coast due to increased transport and labor costs.

Should the number of tourists be limited?
We also asked you if we should limit the number of visits by tourists in the cities on our coast, following the example of some world destinations. Almost 55% believe that the number of tourists should be limited, 37% are against it. About 8% of the respondents could not decide on an answer.
The HRejting survey was conducted by the Promocija plus agency from July 16 to 18 on a sample of 1,000 respondents, with a maximum sampling error of +/- 3 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
