The Croatian Association of Private Shipowners (HUPB) has raised more than 35,000 euros in a humanitarian campaign to help the owner of the tourist ship Vošćica, which sank on March 3. On June 1st, it partially burned down in the port of Bajnica, between Split and Omiš. The funds have already been paid into the owner’s account, which enabled a quick and high-quality repair of the ship.
As a reminder, the fire broke out early in the morning while the ship was moored in the harbor. Thanks to the rapid intervention of firefighters from Podstrana and Dugi Rat, the fire was quickly localized and prevented from spreading to other ships. There were no injuries, the material damage to is Vošćica significant, and since the season has already started, repairs should be completed as soon as possible.
“I thank the Croatian Association of Private Shipowners and everyone who participated in the campaign. The funds collected will be invested in the necessary repair of the ship so that we can try to make up for lost time and continue with the planned activities. Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart!” said the owner of the ship Vošćica Ante Maslov.
HUPB says that solidarity is one of the fundamental values that unites its members. HUPB will, as announced, continue to monitor the situation and provide further assistance if necessary.
