One million euros allocated to professional associations to strengthen qualified and competent staff in tourism

In order to ensure and train qualified and competent personnel in tourism, and with the aim of developing sustainable and year-round tourism, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, based on a public tender, has allocated funds for seven projects of professional associations in tourism in the total amount of 1,003,972.71 euros. These are projects that will be implemented for up to 24 months, and bring together seven applicant associations, 16 partner associations and 82 associated partners, which confirms the importance of cooperation and networking of all stakeholders in the development of long-term sustainable, year-round and competitive tourism.

“The development of sustainable and year-round tourism cannot be achieved without investing in people, their competences and motivation. That is why for years, through this competition, we have been supporting projects that strengthen human resources, connect educational institutions and employers, and encourage sustainable business models, and this year we have secured record funds for this and increased the maximum amount that can be awarded per individual project. Since 2016, we have co-financed 178 projects worth more than 3.4 million euros, and we continue to invest heavily in those that build the future of Croatian tourism,” emphasized Minister Tonči Glavina.

The funds were allocated to projects aimed at strengthening qualified and competent personnel, stimulating interest in tourism professions, intensifying cooperation between vocational schools and employers, improving the quality of services, and developing sustainable business and tourism that is regionally balanced and harmonized with the preservation of the environment, space, and climate. This further encourages the extension of the tourist season and the development of tourism in areas outside the main tourist centers, while ensuring long-term results and financial stability of associations throughout the two-year implementation period.
