In the period from January to May 2025, 45 foreign cruise ships called at Croatian seaports, making a total of 151 cruises. These ships carried 208,000 passengers, who stayed in Croatia for 356 days, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced.
Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of foreign cruise ship voyages increased by 4.9%, while the number of days these ships spent in the territorial waters of the Republic of Croatia increased by 7.6%. At the same time, the number of passengers on these voyages slightly decreased by 0.2%.
Most cruises under the flag of Malta
Foreign cruise ships sailed to Croatia under the flags of 11 countries in the first five months of 2025. The largest number of voyages was made by ships under the flag of Malta, a total of 42 voyages, which accounts for 27.8% of all cruises made. This is followed by cruises made by foreign ships under the flags of Panama (26 voyages), Bahamas (25 voyages) and Norway (24 voyages).
Of the total of 151 cruises by foreign ships, the majority were made in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (45.0%) and Split-Dalmatia County (20.5%), which is a total of 65.5%. The remaining 34.5% of trips were made in the following counties: Zadar County (16.6%), Istria County (8.6%), Šibenik-Knin County (6.6%) and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (2.7%).
The port of Dubrovnik is still the leading port for foreign cruise ships
In the first five months of 2025, the port of Dubrovnik maintained its status as the most visited port for foreign cruise ships, with a total of 110 visits. It was followed by the ports of Split (71 visits), Zadar (46 visits), Šibenik (20 visits) and Korčula (18 visits).
