The Small Croatian shipping companies are not sufficiently recognized as an important factor in our tourism and economy. Today we have a lot of challenges that make it difficult for us to work, and we fear for our future. From the lack of moorings to vague laws and regulations, all of which lead to unwanted situations and problems along the coast.
The lack of moorings is certainly the biggest challenge, but there are also problems of a lack of marine gas stations, insufficient port utility infrastructure, lack of coordination between public authorities, lack of connection between registers, statistics and records by state administration bodies and public law bodies. Unfortunately, all these difficulties have not been recognized by the institutions so far. It is necessary to speed up the procedures for obtaining the permits required for the construction of new and reconstruction of existing ports, to avoid turning ports for public transport into nautical ports, to standardize the nomenclature and terminology in nautical tourism. We don’t want to call anyone names, but we just want to encourage dialogue and a solution to the enormous accumulated problems. We want to be a partner to institutions, participate in working groups so that everyone can work together on these challenges. It is necessary to assign strategic importance to the business of Croatian small shipping companies, which is of interest to our coast and islands. Because we really are an important factor in Croatian tourism and economy.
