After sinking in the port of Krilo Jesenice at the end of last year, the tourist ship Pacific should soon be pulled ashore. Zadar-based specialized company Sub Mission has successfully completed the key phase of preparations. The ship has been righted in the sea, creating conditions for the next step – the lifting and recovery operation from the seabed, which should begin very soon.
Recall that the 45-meter-long ship Pacific sank in the early morning hours of the 29th. of december 2024. The accident occurred while the vessel was at winter berth in the port of Krilo Jesenice. The ship ended up at a depth of about 15 meters. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Immediately after the report, all relevant services responded. Firefighters and port authorities responded to the scene and a protective dam was installed in a short period of time to prevent possible sea pollution. Despite the spill of fuel and lubricant, it was assessed that no serious pollution occurred.
The company Sub Mission, known for its complex underwater operations, will perform the recovery operation, and the entire operation is being financed by the ship owner.
Righting the ship under the sea was a key step that paved the way for the final phase – raising the ship to the surface and removing it from the harbor. The exact start date for the extraction operation has not yet been officially announced. All activities are expected to begin in the coming days, depending on weather conditions and safety assessments.
