The story of the Marasovi\u0107 family from Krilo Jesenice is an example of how tradition, effort and vision can be transformed into a successful family business that raises the standards of Croatian nautical tourism. It all started in 1968, when the family bought their first boat. Ten years later, Andrija’s father decided to buy a boat on his own to start extracting and transporting construction sand, which was a common activity in Krilo at the time. They extracted sand in the winter and offered day trips in the summer. <\/p>\n\n

Captain Andrija Marasovi\u0107, who graduated from the Maritime College in Split and gained experience on ocean-going ships throughout North and South America and Western Europe, decided to return to the family business. \u201cThat experience was unique, but the family business and the Adriatic always attracted me,\u201d says Andrija. The family operated day trips until 2007, when they decided to take their offerings to the next level. <\/p>\n\n

From Magellan to Cristal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The first step towards multi-day cruises was the launch of the Magellan in 2009 at the Posejdon shipyard in Ka\u0161tela, while the first guests set sail in 2010. Eight years later, the Marasovi\u0107 family introduced their yacht Cristal, a true jewel among luxury cruise vessels. With a capacity of 28 guests and 12 crew members, Cristal offers superior comfort and service that attracts guests from the US, South America and Israel.<\/p>\n

The Cristal yacht is equipped with the latest technology and luxurious amenities such as spacious cabins with private bathrooms, a restaurant with panoramic views, a sundeck with a jacuzzi, and a swimming platform that provides easy access to the crystal-clear sea. “Guests who come to Cristal once come back often,” Andrija points out, adding that reservations for 2025 were already closed on October 1 last year. <\/p>\n\n

A family business with a vision<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

In addition to providing unforgettable experiences to guests, the Marasovi\u0107s pay great attention to their employees. “We have never sought labor outside of Croatia; our crew members come mainly from Split,” says Andrija. They maintain employee satisfaction with better wages and working conditions throughout the year, not just during the season.<\/p>\n\n

Andrija’s wife Tatjana plays a key role in running the business, while his sons Jakov and Antonio Dominik, the parents hope, will one day take over the family business. “I hope they will continue this beautiful and challenging tradition,” says Andrija. <\/p>\n\n

Inspiration for Croatian nautical tourism<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The story of the Marasovi\u0107 family perfectly illustrates the transformation of Croatian nautical tourism \u2013 from humble beginnings to luxury cruises that raise industry standards. Their example shows how investing in quality and sustainability can attract guests from all over the world while also contributing to the local community through employment and cooperation with local suppliers. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cThere are opportunities in Croatia,\u201d Andrija concludes. \u201cBut for the effort to pay off, a high level of quality needs to be maintained.\u201d The Marasovi\u0107 family proves this every day \u2013 with their work, vision and love for the Adriatic.<\/p>\n
