We are certainly looking forward to the completion of the works in Omi\u0161!, said <strong>Denis Grubi\u0161a<\/strong> from the Croatian Association of Private Shipowners (HUPB).  <\/p>\n\n<p>Commenting on the imminent completion of works in the port of Omi\u0161 for the HRT Regional News, Grubi\u0161a reminded that due to the announced works in the port of Split this summer, the large tourist fleet from Krilo Jesenica is looking for alternative ports for transfers of guests. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Port of Omi\u0161 worth 13 million euros<\/h2>\n\n<p>After three and a half years, the construction of the port and the large promenade in Omi\u0161 is nearing completion. The eastern entrance to the city, at the mouth of the Cetina River, is thus gaining new vistas, as well as a new tourist and maritime dimension. This is the largest single investment in the history of the County Port Authority &#8211; 13 million euros.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The entire promenade and most of the port area have already been paved with Bra\u010d stone, and one can already get an impression of how much this project is changing and beautifying Omi\u0161. Final works are underway. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8211; Works related to horticulture, electrical installations, we are now at 90% completion of the project and we plan to finish it in two months, said <strong>Dominko Luki\u0107<\/strong>, project engineer.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The people of Omi\u0161 are looking forward to the project being completed ahead of the tourist season.<\/h2>\n\n<p>&#8211; Great, it will be nice for us. Extraordinary, the best possible, it will be here in Omi\u0161, we were still missing that and nothing else. It&#8217;s great, no question, there will also be a real promenade, I guess the port should come too, are the opinions of the citizens.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Capacity of the new port<\/h2>\n\n<p>The port itself was supposed to have a larger capacity and a much longer breakwater, but due to the great depth and soft terrain, such a project was abandoned. The majority of the population will continue to use the Cetina River between the bridge and the mouth as a permanent mooring. The new port will have a mixed purpose. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8211; Part of it would be for municipal berths, and this would remain as a port open to public traffic. According to the information we have from the Port Authority, there should be around 80 berths. Omi\u0161 is a small town, the port should not accommodate large ships, but rather what is appropriate for this town, explained <strong>Ivo Tomasovi\u0107<\/strong>, the mayor of Omi\u0161. Various tourist ships are certainly suitable.
