Statistics show that life on board carries many times greater risks than working on land.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The latest report from Lloyd\u2019s Register Foundation reveals alarming data \u2013 as many as 25% of seafarers have experienced some form of injury or accident at work in the last two years. This is the highest rate of any profession surveyed. For comparison, the figure is 18% among other workers. <\/p>\n\n

As part of the global research “World Risk Poll Focus On”, 147,000 workers from various sectors were surveyed, and the results indicate serious failures in the protection of occupational health and safety (OSH) in the maritime industry, writes Splash247<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The common message from all experts is that systematic and sustainable changes are necessary to ensure better living and working conditions at sea. Without safe and healthy seafarers, there is neither safe navigation nor stable supply for the rest of the world. <\/p>\n\n
