The tourist ship Pacific, which sank in late December in the Jesenice Wing, has been pulled from the sea after more than two and a half months of preparation. The work of pulling it out was carried out by the specialized company Sub Mission. The ship had to be stabilized and righted at a depth of almost 20 meters. An assessment of its further use follows. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

As a reminder, the Pacific ship, about 42 meters long and with a capacity of 36 guests, sank at the end of December last year in the port of Krilo Jesenice. The sinking occurred in the early morning hours. The ship ended up at a depth of between 15 and 20 meters, under a number of other moored ships, which further complicated access and planning for recovery. Fortunately, there were no passengers or crew on board at the time of the accident. And thanks to the quick response of firefighters and the installation of protective barriers, sea pollution was prevented. <\/p>\n\n

The competent Split Port Authority immediately issued an order to the owner to organize the ship’s recovery. After collecting bids from several specialized companies, it was decided that the Zadar-based company Sub Mission would do the job. Preparations took several months, among other things due to technical challenges and the depth at which the ship is located.<\/p>\n\n

In addition to the sheer depth and position of the ship, extracting the Pacifica required careful planning to avoid additional damage. This is followed by a detailed technical inspection and assessment of the possibility of repairing or possibly disposing of the ship. The cause of the sinking has not yet been officially determined.<\/p>\n\n

This accident has once again shown how important it is for all services, from firefighters to port authorities and shipowners themselves, to act quickly. Thanks to the coordinated action, any negative impact on the environment was prevented and the safety of other ships in the port was preserved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
