The State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ) has issued new warnings for today. There is a possibility of more pronounced showers, strong thunderstorms and gale force winds. It is in force for the wider Croatian coast, including the Split, Dubrovnik, Knin and Rijeka regions, as well as southern, central and northern Dalmatia, the western coast of Istria, Kvarner and the Velebit Channel. <\/p>\n\n
Residents and visitors in coastal and island areas are particularly advised to be aware of potentially dangerous conditions at sea. Strong wind gusts, sometimes exceeding 65 km\/h, the possibility of breaking waves and severe thunderstorm instability are forecast, especially in the open sea and in higher areas. Citizens and tourists are advised to avoid being outdoors during storms and to follow current forecasts and warnings. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n

Strong storm hits Split waters and Dalmatia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
Yesterday was marked by a strong storm front penetrating Dalmatia, with the Split waters particularly affected. The storm caused significant material damage, and numerous emergency situations were recorded at sea and on land. <\/p>\n\n
In the Vis waters, there were a number of sailing boat and catamarans accidents, especially in the area of the islands of Vis, Bi\u0161evo and Sveca. The crews found themselves in dangerous situations, but thanks to the quick and professional response of the Komi\u017ea Fire Department firefighters, 16 people were rescued from several stranded and damaged vessels. In some cases, water had already penetrated the interior of the ships, but all passengers were evacuated and safely taken care of. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n

Poljud under water, Sinjska Alka cancelled<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
The storm did not spare the mainland parts of the region either. Split was hit by heavy rain accompanied by thunder and gale force winds, which caused the interruption of a football match at Poljud. Despite the significant amount of rain, the match between Hajduk and Istra 1961 was still held after the storm ended. <\/p>\n\n
In Sinj, the 310th Sinjska Alka was canceled due to heavy rain and a flooded racetrack, and visitors had to seek shelter from the torrential rain and frequent lightning that tore the sky above the city. The cancellation of this historic event caused great disappointment among spectators and participants, and the new date for the Alka is next Sunday, August 10th. <\/p>\n\n
The DHMZ continues to call for increased caution, especially in coastal and mountainous areas, and advises everyone to regularly monitor official weather forecasts and warnings.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
