At a time when millions of euros are being invested in projects whose function is unclear, it is quite legitimate to ask the following question: How is it that work is being postponed at the same time in places where the investment is not only justified, but also necessary? <\/p>\n\n
One of such places is undoubtedly the port of Krilo Jesenice. This is a port that has long since become the backbone of small-scale shipping in this part of the Adriatic. It is home to the largest fleet of tourist boats that attract thousands of guests and fill the state budget. At the same time, they ensure the livelihood of local families. However, the port, which should be the pride of this sector, has been waiting for much-needed reconstruction for years. It still lacks a basic hydrant network or a protection system in the event of an accident. And the number of vessels and the traffic in it far exceed the modest capacities it has. <\/p>\n\n
The recent fire that almost engulfed the port itself and the moored vessels on August 11 dramatically demonstrated how dangerous the current situation is. If the fire had spread among the ships, the consequences would have been incalculable, from enormous material damage to the threat to human lives. This event was a clear warning that there was no more time to wait. <\/p>\n\n
Of particular concern is the fact that there is already a building permit for the reconstruction of the port, issued at the beginning of 2024. Also, funds have been secured, mostly from European funds. Everything is ready for the works to begin, but they are still being postponed, without a clear reason and without an answer to the question why. This is precisely why the Croatian Association of Private Shipowners, the majority of whose fleet is moored in Krilo Jesenice, once again emphasizes that the reconstruction of the port cannot be postponed, and any further delay is unacceptable. <\/p>\n\n
A comparison of projects being implemented on our coast inevitably leads to the conclusion that while a port is being built in Omi\u0161 whose purpose has not yet been fully defined, people and ships, the economy and safety in Krilo Jesenice are suffering. It is time to set priorities clearly and responsibly. Investments in maritime infrastructure should be directed where they bring real benefits, protect lives and property and ensure sustainable development. The port of Krilo Jesenice undoubtedly does this and therefore must no longer be left to wait. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
