While shipyards in Asian nations\u2014namely China, South Korea, and Japan\u2014have taken over the mass, serial production of large cargo vessels and tankers, the EU has established itself as a global technological leader in the construction of cruise ships and luxury yachts. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today, there are approximately 150 large and over 300 smaller shipyards actively operating within the EU, employing more than 300,000 workers and generating an annual turnover exceeding 80 billion euros. Despite fragmentation and relatively small production capacities\u2014which, for the time being, do not yield significant multiplier effects on other sectors or the economy as a whole\u2014the growth in activity among leading Croatian shipbuilding companies is encouraging for the future development of this industry in Croatia. <\/strong>\u201c, assesses Buturac.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasizes that this is an activity that produces an extremely complex product, the production of which includes a wide range of goods, from natural resources, intermediate products, semi-finished products to finished products.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAn industry traditionally slow and conservative is currently undergoing a transformation, driven by machine learning and advanced algorithms that enable drastically faster design processes, predictive maintenance, and a move toward fully autonomous vessels.
