The new Board of Directors of the Croatian Association of Private Shipowners (HUPB) unanimously elected Ivan Mladin as its new president on Thursday.
The current HUPB president Arsen Ercegović was elected as one of the four vice presidents, followed by Ivan Rakuljić, Andrija Marasović and Damir Naranča.
Earlier this week, the HUPB Regular Electoral Assembly was held, at which former president Arsen Ercegović reported to the membership on the Association’s activities in view of the challenges they face. An important topic was the implementation of the “Study of the Safety of Navigation, Docking, Anchoring and Staying in the Port and Port Area”, which limits the maximum number of ships that can be moored in ports. The implementation has been postponed to the beginning of this year. In addition, the Split Port Authority announced the reconstruction of the Port of Split, which will last two years. During this time, it will not be possible to berth ships in the Port of Split. – This has put us in a very difficult situation. We all know how necessary this port is for our business. We have been offered several other ports as alternatives, but this is not even remotely satisfactory. The Association continues to seek an appropriate solution to this situation, said Ercegović. He also added that the North Port is not an appropriate solution to this problem.
In addition to the 15 members of the Board of Directors, three new members and their three deputies were elected to the Supervisory Board of the Association and the Court of Honor.
