A new analysis of the charter market reveals a structural gap in income: Greece achieves a 21 percent higher catamaran price and a 24 percent higher sailboat price with better occupancy in all segments.

The Croatian charter industry has a fleet of 3,761 vessels, which is 48 percent more than the Greek fleet of 2,542 vessels. Despite this, in all segments, sailboats, catamarans and motor yachts, Greece achieves higher average rental prices and better occupancy rates. This is shown by an analysis of the charter market for 2026 prepared by čarter.hr, a specialized portal for digital marketing in nautical tourism.

The difference is not marginal. The average weekly price of a catamaran in Greece is 7,586 euros, compared to 6,258 euros in Croatia, which is a gap of 21 percent. For sailboats, the difference is 24 percent (3,425 euros versus 2,753 euros). The annual occupancy rate for sailboats in Greece is 43.6 percent, in Croatia 32.5 percent. Peak occupancy for Greek sailboats falls in mid-September, while the Croatian season loses intensity already at the end of August.

The analysis was based on data from the yacht-rent.com platform, which includes 875 catamarans, 2,377 sailing yachts and 509 motor yachts in Croatia and 850 catamarans and 1,632 sailing yachts in Greece. Industry estimates suggest that the sample covers around 84 percent of the total Croatian charter fleet.
