The Ministry of Tourism and Sport has issued two public calls aimed at promoting careers in tourism and hospitality, encouraging young people to pursue education in these fields, and strengthening the competencies of future tourism professionals. These include a public call for fostering education in hospitality and tourism—specifically through scholarships—and a public call for the promotion and enhancement of competencies for vocational and artistic professions within the tourism sector for the year 2026.

A total of 408,600 euros has been secured for the implementation of the scholarship program for the 2026/2027 academic/school year. Additionally, 290,000 euros has been allocated for a program aimed at promoting and strengthening the competencies required for vocational and artistic professions in the tourism sector, bringing the total to 698,600 euros. The scholarship program has been in operation since 2008, with 7 million euros awarded to more than 3,100 recipients to date. Through the “Promotion of Professions” program, which has been running since 2009, 339 projects have been co-financed, with a total value of 1.5 million euros.

“Over the past ten years, we have made significant strides in investing in education and workforce development for Croatian tourism. Since 2016, we have provided more than 6.5 million euros through a scholarship program, benefiting over 2,300 recipients. This accounts for more than 90 percent of the total funds allocated since the program’s inception. Simultaneously, through the ‘Promotion of Professions’ program, we have funded 181 projects since 2016, with a total value of 1.2 million euros—representing nearly 80 percent of the total investment in this program since it began. Our goal is to provide young people with as many opportunities as possible for education and professional development within the tourism sector, while ensuring that the industry has access to a skilled, high-quality workforce—a key prerequisite for the continued development of a competitive and sustainable Croatian tourism sector.” , pointed out the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Tonči Glavina.

The monthly scholarship amounts to 266 euros.

Through a public call for the promotion of education in the hospitality and tourism sectors, scholarships are awarded in cooperation with legal and natural persons registered to carry out hospitality activities and/or provide tourism services—including hotels, campsites, restaurants, bars, catering establishments, hostels, travel agencies, and marinas. The monthly scholarship amount is 266 euros, payable from September 1st to June 30th of the current school/academic year.

Through the Public Call for the promotion and strengthening of competencies in vocational and artistic professions for the tourism sector, funding is allocated to projects that contribute to bridging the gap between the educational system and the tourism industry, improving accessibility for persons with disabilities, mitigating the environmental impact of tourism, and adapting to climate change. Eligible applicants include secondary vocational, artistic, and mixed-type schools founded by the City of Zagreb, the counties, or the Republic of Croatia; students enrolled in vocational or artistic programs are eligible to participate. The maximum grant amount is 5,500 euros for an individual school, or 11,000 euros for projects involving two or more schools.

Applications for the scholarship program are open for 30 days from the date of publication of the Public Call or until funds are exhausted, while applications for the vocational promotion program are open until November 12, 2026.
