The Port of Split decided to support their efforts and dedication by providing equipment that will also be useful to them in future interventions.
Luka Split d.d. donated two sets of respiratory protection equipment—including back-mounted harnesses, lung-demand valves, masks, and compressed air cylinders—as well as a fire nozzle to the Gata Volunteer Fire Department. The donation is intended to enhance the safety of the firefighters who selflessly participated in extinguishing a major fire in the Omiš area, protecting people, their homes, and the natural environment.
Members of the Gata Volunteer Fire Department—from the village of the same name within the City of Omiš—were among the firefighters the community relied upon during times of great danger. The Port of Split decided to support their efforts and dedication by providing equipment that will assist them in future operations.
“When you watch firefighters working for hours amidst smoke and flames while people fear for their homes, mere words of thanks don’t seem enough. We wanted to help in a way that would benefit them long after this fire fades from the headlines. That is why we donated equipment to the Gata Volunteer Fire Department to protect them during future operations. We also have ties to the Omiš region through colleagues who live there, their families, and our business partners. We thank the firefighters for everything they have done. Above all, we hope they return home safely from every call-out,” stated the Port of Split.
