Preparations have begun for the recovery of the ship PACIFIC, which sank at the end of last year, on December 29th to be exact, in the port of Krilo. This demanding job will be carried out by the Zadar-based company Sub Mission, all at the expense of the owner of the sunken ship.
As explained to us, the entire process will take time. The preparations are very demanding, the work requires precision and caution in order to meet all necessary safety conditions. But one thing is certain – PACIFIC will sail the Adriatic again.
Let us recall that the Croatian Association of Private Shipowners and the Association of Ports of Krilo and Bajnice, which is also an assistant to the Port Authority of Split-Dalmatia County for the port of Krilo, reported at the end of the year that in the morning hours of December 29th the 40-meter-long ship PACIFIC, owned by a fellow shipowner from Krilo Jesenice, a member of both Associations, sank in the port of Krilo.
The ship sank to a depth of 17 meters, and the reasons for the sinking are still unknown. Also, no one was injured during the sinking, no damage was done to neighboring ships, and no significant pollution of the sea occurred. According to the owner, minimal amounts of fuel were stored on the ship. Firefighters installed absorbent dams, limiting the potential spread of contamination.
