A third of respondents plan a vacation lasting 4 to 7 nights, while a fifth plan up to 10 nights.
The majority of Slovenians will be going on holiday this summer, and Croatia remains their most popular tourist destination. These are the results of an online survey conducted in mid-June by the Mediana Market and Media Research Institute on Slovenians’ summer holiday plans. More specifically, the survey showed that 71 percent of respondents are planning to go on holiday or summer vacation. Almost a fifth of them have already paid for their holiday. Slightly more than a quarter of them have chosen a destination, but have not yet paid. A quarter have not yet finally decided where they will travel.
Croatia is leading
However, when it comes to destinations, Croatia is still convincingly ahead – more than half of the respondents will spend the summer in Croatian destinations. After our country, Slovenia is the most popular domestic destination, where every tenth respondent will spend their summer. Among the more popular foreign destinations, Greece and Italy also stand out, while slightly more than a tenth of the respondents said they would travel “somewhere else”, which indicates a diversity of interests and possibly more exotic choices.
“The results of the research confirm the long-standing commitment of Slovenian guests to Croatia, for which we are extremely grateful. Proximity, excellent transport connections, a well-known and diverse offer, as well as long-standing mutual trust are the reasons why Croatia continues to be the number one choice for Slovenians. We are pleased that our neighbors have recognized the value of the authentic experience, safety and hospitality that Croatia continuously offers. Slovenia is one of our most important source markets. We will continue to actively work on adapting the offer and promotion to their interests – from family and camping tourism, to active holidays and wine and gastronomy,” said Bruno Bonifačić, director of the HTZ Representative Office in Slovenia. He emphasized that for Slovenians, our country is a destination they travel to throughout the year.
A quarter are planning longer vacations
When it comes to the duration of the vacation, a third of respondents plan a vacation lasting 4 to 7 nights, while a fifth plan up to 10 nights. Longer vacations, lasting more than 10 nights, are planned by about a quarter of respondents. Among the respondents, the most preferred accommodation is in apartments, private rooms or holiday homes (38 percent). This is followed by hotels and motels (24 percent) and campsites (15 percent).
Let’s add that, according to eVisitor data, Slovenian guests have registered over 877,000 arrivals and 4.3 million overnight stays in our country so far this year. Compared to the same period last year, this is an increase of +2% in arrivals and +3% in overnight stays.
