As part of its large project to purchase traditional Vrlika costumes, the Dalmacija Dugi Rat Cultural and Artistic Society received a valuable donation from the Porat Krilo and Bajnice Association, which decided to help by paying the amount needed to handcraft one set of women’s costumes.
The project to restore and purchase the Vrlika folk costume is one of the most important investments of this long-standing cultural organization in preserving tradition and Croatian cultural heritage. The costumes are handmade, and every detail on them, from the embroidered shirts, alms, aprons, belts, whips, shoes, sandals, red caps with peacock feathers and brooches, and scarves, requires months of work by skilled craftsmen.

Ukupna vrijednost projekta iznosi 40.000 eura, a planira se izraditi 16 kompleta nošnji. Dio sredstava osiguran je kroz podršku Županije i Općine Dugi Rat, dok se ostatak prikuplja donacijama.
This costume is not just a piece of clothing for us, but a symbol of our history, identity and pride. We thank the Association for their generous donation and support of our work. Their help allows us to pass on the tradition to new generations and to present our cultural heritage in its full glory, said Anita Lelas, president of the Dalmacija Dugi Rat Cultural Association.
The Association said they are happy to support projects that preserve local culture and community:
– When we see the enthusiasm and commitment of KUD Dalmacija members, it is clear that such projects deserve support. We are glad that we can help preserve the tradition that connects us all.
KUD Dalmacija Dugi Rat expressed its willingness to thank donors and the community with a performance as a sign of gratitude for the support provided.
