Croatia maintained last year’s tourism results in the first half of the year. However, it has reached the limit of further growth, which is why competitiveness will increasingly depend on the ratio of price and quality of service, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said at the government session.

He also spoke about the successful issuance of a government bond, the strategic partnership of the Croatian company Docking with the German Rheinmetall, and the continuation of large investments in senior centers.

At the beginning of his address, Plenković thanked the Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds Nataša Mikuš Žigman and all participants in the first session of the Regional Development Council, held last Friday in Đakovo.

He pointed out that after the adoption of the new Regional Development Act, a ten-year dialogue with the Croatian Community of Counties, the Association of Cities and the Croatian Community of Municipalities was formalized.

On this occasion, 70 contracts worth 409 million kuna were awarded in the fields of environmental protection and green transition, construction, education and culture.

The Prime Minister recalled that during their stay in Slavonia, they visited projects for the Roma minority in Darda, the Creative Children’s Center in Ernestinovo, projects for the Hungarian minority in Korođ, and participated in the jubilee 60th Đakovo Embroidery Festival.

– All in all, a very good stay in Slavonia on Friday, Plenković said.

Speaking about tourism indicators, the Prime Minister pointed out that in the first six months, Croatia achieved 7.6 million arrivals and 29.5 million overnight stays, which is on par with last year’s results.

He added that Croatia is currently fourth in Europe in terms of the number of overnight stays, and that growth is being recorded in air, road and maritime transport. – We are reaching limits that are more or less recurring, 21.2 million guests and around 110 million overnight stays. That is why it is important, given the security situation in the Mediterranean and competition, to take into account all aspects of pricing policy, from accommodation to services, said Plenković.
