From 1834 until today, the Port of Šibenik has been one of the key centers of Adriatic maritime traffic.

Modernization of the cargo part of the port of Šibenik

The Šibenik Port Authority manages passenger traffic and the cruise port at the Vrulje pier within its port area. And since March 2025, the main city waterfront, where nautical traffic takes place, has also come under its jurisdiction. With this step, the Port Authority has further defined its role in managing maritime resources in the Šibenik area. Although passenger and nautical potentials are most visible to the public, a key strategic step forward is currently taking place in the cargo segment. Through significant infrastructure projects – those underway and those in preparation – the Šibenik Port Authority is working to transform the city’s cargo port into a modern and operational maritime hub ready for market demands.

Contract signed for the Dobrika-Rogač connecting coast

The new development cycle was officially launched in March of this year with the signing of the contract on the construction of the Dobrika – Rogač connecting coast in the port of Šibenik. This infrastructure project, the value of which is more than 13.3 million euros, was entrusted to the company Pomgrad inženjering d.o.o. The importance of this investment for the maritime system was confirmed by the Vice President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, who, during the signing of the contract between the Šibenik Port Authority and the contractor, provided strong institutional support for this project.

The construction of the connecting quay Dobrika – Rogač marks the beginning of a new phase of development of the cargo port. It will significantly strengthen operational capacities, expand handling space and create the prerequisites for accepting larger ships and new types of cargo. In parallel with this project, work is underway to deepen the bottom of the water area, i.e. to move marine sediment in front of the Connecting Quay Rogač – Drvni Terminal (Klobušac) and the connecting quay Dobrika – Rogač. The value of these works exceeds 3 million euros, and their completion will ensure a larger draft and maximum navigation safety. This directly enables the arrival of larger and more economically viable cargo ships.
